Thinking Hat Exercises

I've been informed that some people don't have the TK worksheet. So, I'll post the questions here:

HAT EXERCISE B: (Adeline's group; Kate's group)
There are three children named Amy, Sarah and Eric. There are five hats; two are yellow and three are pink. Each child can see only two hats, those worn by the other children. They cannot see the unworn hats or their own hats. Use the facts below to deduce the color of each child's hat.

Fact: When asked if any of the children knew the color of their own hats. Eric was the only one that knew the color of his hat.

HAT EXERCISE C: (Grace's group; Jonathan's group)
There are three children named Mike, Max and Nancy. There are five hats, three black and two white. Each child can only see two hats, those worn by the other children. Use the facts below to deduce the color of Nancy's hat.

Facts:
After looking at the other children's hat, Mike said, "I don't know the color of my hat."
Max has the same reply.
However, Nancy knew the color of her hat.

HAT EXERCISE D: (Daniel's group; Melissa's group)
There are three girls named Julie, Jill and Janet. There are six hats, three red and three green. Each girl can see only the two hats worn by the other girls. The girls cannot see their own hats or the unworn hats. Use the facts below to deduce the color of Jill's hat.

Facts:
When asked if they could see a red hat, all three girls answered "Yes"
When asked if they could name the color of their hats, Jill was the only girl who said she couldn't.
Bonus: After hearing Janet's and Julie's answer, Jill said "If my sisters know the color of their hats, then I can deduce the color of mine." Explain how she could do this.

Please don't ask me to type out Exercise A.

T3W8 Homework

Hi 06!
As you could have guessed, the weekly homework post is back! As usual please correct me if I write any wrong homework, or if I wrote extra or less homework, thanks.
1. Math Topic 2 and 3 Supplementary exercise (The topic 2 is for those who have not done it yet) Due date:Monday REMINDER: The Math quiz is next week Wednesday.
2. IH Geography worksheet- finish it up. Due date: Monday
3. A-Math: Do all the present exercises available and the Topic 3 Supplementary I think to prepare for Wednesday quiz. The A-Math quiz is next Monday.
Oh and for Math, as Mrs. Sia said, it is best if you redo the exercises that she gave out as a form of revision until you can remember it. And I think that should be it. I can only remember those two, so I have a bad feeling I missed out some, so remember to comment on the c box if you notice anything, thanks!

Term 3 Week 6 Homework

Ello friends,
Sorry for this late post, but now you finally have the homework post! I am not sure if there is much homework this weekend because I can't think of that many other than Math, so please comment if I leave anything out! Now, for the homework:
1. Math Term 3 Topic 2 Homework set 1 and 2 (Yes, we have already done some of homework set 1, I can't remember where we left off but I think we finished practice 1A, but just to be safe I suggest that you finish the whole 2 homework sets) -Due date: 11 August, Wednesday. And also, for A-Math students, there is no homework.

2. LA homework for the thing about the essay writing in case you have not done it yet -Due date: -3 days later

3. IH Cheat sheet (I suggest that you finish your whole essay this weekend and then make your cheat sheet out of this and let Mr. Han have a look at the essay you written so you know if yours is good or you should improve on it) -Due date: Twt said to pass to her on Monday, but I think she forgot that that day is a holiday so I think the due date is either 11 or 12 August, Wednesday or Thursday

And also, now for IH, there is no more History, now is Geography (just to take note) and the Geography Homework will be the worksheet on "Modernity".

4. IS worksheet -Due date: 12 August, Thursday
Okay, that should be it. Remember to comment if I made any mistakes, and have a happy National Day weekend!

CLASS TEE!!! :D :D :D

Hey 106!
Okay, these are the information that you guys wanted.
The background or base colour of the class tee is white.
On the front of the tee-shirt, the words "BLAZZZING PASSION WE ARE 06-ers!!!" are written and will be printed in red.
On the black of the tee shirt, is the design that Wen Shuan drew yesterday and this morning. There should be no more changes in the pictures, cause I've already asked everyone for their picture.
Personalisation of the tee shirt has been included. Your names would be printed on the right sleeve of the tee. But, we have yet to decide on the font and the font size. Your index numbers will not be included as we would have to pay an additional $4. I don't think any of you would want that. The design would be editted by an artist, and when the tee shirt company sends the email with the design, I will post the design on our blog and on our facebook page.
The total cost of all the tees is $419. So everyone would have to pay $15.50. We ordered a total of 27 tees (for Mr Tan and Miss Kavi too), and The class funds have paid $165 as deposit, and we still need to pay another $254. Mr Tan and Miss Kavi would pay the full $15.50 for themselves as they did not pay class funds, haha. So if possible, we would need to pay another $223, which means that everyone will have to pay another $8.92. Our class funds is now left with $75.65. So we'll have to top up our class funds again. I hope that all of you can bring $10 for our class funds on Wednesday. That's about it. If there are any other questions, just post them on the class blog. Thank You :D

Start of Term 3

JH106,

How's your holidays? Should be ok right? Welcome to Term 3 and after the long holidays, hope that you still remember what you've to bring for school EVERYDAY and on some lessons!

Bring Diary, Pencil Case (pens, pencils, glitter pens <-- optional, etc.), Water Bottle and other necessary stuffs, like books and so on. Be punctual for school EVERYDAY or else you have to do Corrective Work Order (which is CWO), if you're late for a specific number of times.

For LA, bring the LA103 booklet that Dr. Lim gave you EVERY LA lesson, which is everyday except Friday.

For Math, bring the Math booklet our respective Math teacher gives and also the calculator. If your calculator lacks in battery, buy a new one (I mean, buy a new battery). Other than that, since we're doing mostly on Algebra, I don't see the need to bring Mathematics Set (protactor, etc.).

For Science, write down notes not found in the notes given to you, that's all.

And also... please write it in a way you understand.

For Chinese, there's a lot of things to bring: Chinese notebook, Chinese textbooks, and other extra stuffs you want to bring for your Chinese needs.

For IH, bring your IH booklet which is currently a yellow one.

This is the same for PD, just bring the purple booklet. Don't lose it because you have to use it for one year.

That should be all what you've to bring. I'll still be helping you post the homework every week in case no one does it. If you have any other questions regarding, don't comment, just post in ChatBox. (The Comments page is not for you to comment on.) Have fun this term!

Term 3/4 Timetable and Marks Checking Day

Hi everyone,
We are having a new timetable again(yeah, you could have guessed). Hope all of you have enjoyed the holidays so far and that you are/have finishing/finished your homework. Yeah, so school is starting in a few days time, you can check out the announcement on km here
https://km.njc.edu.sg/SC/Lists/Student%20News/DispForm.aspx?ID=2354&RootFolder=%2FSC%2FLists%2FStudent%20News and follow the link to the document library(https://km.njc.edu.sg/SC/JHS/Pages/default.aspx) and download the timetable. We are having some new subjects, but you can check that out by yourself.
On Monday, the first day of school, we are going to have our marks checking day again. They actually made a post of it on km, and now you can download and have a look at the schedule beforehand. This is the link:
https://km.njc.edu.sg/SC/Lists/Student%20News/DispForm.aspx?ID=2353&RootFolder=%2FSC%2FLists%2FStudent%20News We are going to have our marks checking day in LT5! Remember to bring the test results and stuff like that so that you can check your marks more easily. And also, I think you guys know by experience that marks checking day is going to be very noisy, boring and long, so I hope that we won't contribute so much to the noise, and also you might want to bring something to do for that day instead of staring into space or doing nothing.

HORRIBLE JUNE HOLIDAYS HOMEWORK!!!

Hi 106,
This is your holiday homework for the whole of June Holidays... =((( It's a long list.

  1. Thinking: Rebus Assignment Task: Create a list of 5 words/phrase which have potential to be transformed into a Rebus Puzzle. Write in in your TK Journal. This is worth 5% of your GPA, it is due on the first TK lesson of Term 3.

  3. Language Arts: Read pages 63 and 64 and attempt questions on pages 65 and 66 on foolscap paper.
  4. IH: Learn the Dynasties well as there will be a test on the PowerPoint Presentation that we have presented over the last 2 weeks of the term. Goldwin has sent an email regarding some questions that you all might wish to attempt. Do attempt those questions and answers will be given out on week 2 of the holidays. (Just that I thought they were supposed to be MCQ questions.) And then, please complete your IH report. It will be due on the first IH lesson you have in Term 3.
  5. For non-accelerated Maths students, please complete the worksheet that Mrs Sia gave out. It is a round-up for the whole of the MA104 module. Attempt them on foolscap paper as well. And then, please complete the Topic 8 Homework Set 2 homework.

IH Group Presentation

HI 106,
There are some changes regarding the IH Group presentation schedule. On Monday, only the Song Dynasty group will be presenting. Yuan Dynasty and Ming Dynasty will be presenting on another day. Ming Dyansty would be presenting on Wednesday afternoon, from 3 to 3:30 (half an hour, just before Cafe starts); while Yuan Dynasty will present on Thursday afternoon, from 2 to 2:30 (half an hour before SMO training starts). Mr Han did not allow us to do this on Tuesday because 5 people from our class (the absentees on Friday) will have to retake their LA Poem Unseen test. So remember to keep these times free. Mr Han made this two PowerPoint presentations a compulsory thing as you all will be tested on the information on the PowerPoint on the first lesson of next term. So please attend this. Any other comments will go to the CBox.
Thanks,
Wen Wen. :D

Integrated Humanities Presentation Overview

You all should be preparing for your IH Presentation next week, except for Tang Dynasty. Things to take note in a presentation (any general presentations I mean):
1. Keep quiet and pay attention to the speaker(s).
2. Take down notes for important points or datas.
3. After speaker(s) presented his/her/their presentation, give them encouragement and clap.
4. For speakers, try to make your presentation as interesting as possible and make sure your audience are engaged in listening to your presentation.
5. Make your presentation unusual.
6. If audience are not paying attention, stop for a while and continue if they start to pay attention again.

These 6 points are just tips for you only. Anyway, the presentation for the Tang Dynasty is tomorrow, so good luck and do your best! For the other 4 groups, please prepare your presentation by this upcoming Monday and do some rehearsals.

Thank you.

A-Math Quiz

This post is specially posted for JH1 Accelerated Mathematics Students, because the content will be based on the proofs you have to learn. (Can be found in Pink Handout too, but I'll give more examples on Number 3 in case you do not know what is Counter-Example)

1. Proof of Sum of Interior Angles bounded by // lines

2. Proof of Exterior Angle Property
Let a, b and c be angles in a triangle and d be the exterior angle beside c.

Prove that a + b = d

a + b + c = 180 (sum of angles in a triangle)
d + c = 180 (adj. angles on a straight line)

Since a + b + c = d + c = 180,
cancelling out c, we get a + b = d.

Therefore, a + b = d. (Proven!)

3. Giving a Counter-Example

This means giving an example which disproves something.
Let's consider the number pattern: 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, ... ...

Show that T(n) = 2n is incorrect.

*Use examples*
Let n be 3.
So, T(3) = 2(3)
= 6

*Include Concluding Sentence":
However, it is shown that the third term is 8 and not 6, so this formula is incorrect. (Proven!)

Example: (By the way, I made it so it is very easy)

Pattern: 9, 27, 81, 243, 729, ... ...

(a) Show that T(n) = 9n is wrong.

(b) What is the correct formula for this pattern?

ANSWER:
(a) Let n be 3.
T(3) = 9(3)
= 27

The third term is 81 but the answer I get is 27. Therefore it is wrong.

(b) 9^n (9 to the power of n)

4. Rewriting algebraic Formula

Ok that's all I can help you. Please remember all that.

For MA104 students, if you want to learn, ask from the A-Math Students, including me.

Hope I'm not spamming the class blog! :):):)

Ok that's all! I have a request.

Please help me find the date for No. 21.

That is how I did my IS Content Page. Feel free to use it if you want. If you have any comments regarding the positions of the worksheets, please put it under Comments of this blog post or the CBox. The latter should be better because it is more obvious to me and everyone too.

Goldwin,

T2W8 Homework

Hi 106,
These are the homework that you have for this week. I know a lot of you are still worried about the Maths test, no point thinking about it anymore. If you want to improve on your GPA, you should start revising for other upcoming tests. There is not a lot of homework this week (for once), but do revise for your upcoming tests. Also, refer to the previous posts that Goldwin typed out for additional study materials.

1) IH: Do questions 5 to 8 on page 22 of your IH booklet.
2) IS: Finish up your group project for the IS weather report; due on Tuesday.

I think that is all the homework we have, if I missed out anything, feel free to write them in the Cbox or under comments.

These are the revisions that you will have to do over the weekend.

1) LA: Learn all the poems that would be tested for the test on Friday and know your literary devices well. There is another LA Test the following Monday about an unseen poem.
2) IS: Do remember that we have an IS test in the LT 2 weeks from now; do start revising.
All the best for upcoming tests,
Wen Wen :D
