T2W6 Homework

Hi JH106,

I know you guys dread homework, but I still have to remind you of it. :(

Homework is fun if you think it the positive perspective! :)

1) Your 剪贴簿. It should be the 6th entry already. And you will have to complete ALL the entries today. The teacher said that she would be collecting them sometime this week. So get your 剪贴簿 ready.

2) For Chinese again, remember to bring your Chinese Dictionaries on Tuesday and Wednesday.

3) Complete your TK Riddle poems for both the individual and the group work. Write out all your "workings" and how you arrived with it. This is 10% of your overall TK module.

4) I suggest you should start studying for your LA Test in Week 9. Revise all the poems in the LA Booklet and know all your literary devices well. And then, by the end of Week 8, Hui Ling will pass up your poems you made in these 2 fruitful (not sure if it is...) weeks. Please get it ready and don't create trouble for her!

5) For IH, you have to read pages 20 and 21 about the Han Dynasty. Do some highlighting on the key points. You'd better do this otherwise MR HAN will kill you. Haha. Also, after reading the passage, do questions 1 to 4 on page 22 of the IH Module book. It will be due on Thursday.

6) For Math, there will be a Math Quiz 2 on May 14th. This is EXTREMELY important so please note and learn all the topics. It is as stated:

a) Topic 1 - Types of Numbers

b) Topic 2 - Approximation and Estimation

c) Topic 3 - Extreme Numbers and Standard Form

d) Topic 4 - Basic Algebra

e) Topic 5 - Linear Equations and Simple Inequalities

f) Topic 6 - Angle Management

g) Topic 7 - Going 2-Dimensional (EXCLUSIVE of area of parallelogram and trapezium) [Don't ask me why ok? It's like that already!] And please note that this notice is applicable to the whole class and not for the A-Math or MA104 Math Stream only.

7) For students in the normal stream for Maths, please ensure that you finish the worksheet or the handout that Mrs Sia gave out. You need not do the first part of the worksheet, which is finding out the unknown angles; but you MUST COMPLETE the "challenge yourself" part of the worksheet. As for the back page of the handout, ensure that you complete the remaining questions, Q7 to 9.

8) For A-Math, homework very simple. Finish up Topic 7 Homework Sets 1 and 2 and pass up to Mr. Lim on Friday. Please bring the Green Handouts (1.6 and 1.8) to class on Wednesday because Mr Lim is going to go through these worksheets. And in the meanwhile, if you can, you can just browse through Topic 8: Going 3-Dimensional.

It is confirmed. Shortly nearer to the Quiz's date, I'll post "Mathematics Quiz 2 Revision" to let you recall what you learnt and recall.

Please remember to complete ALL your homework. I know that a lot of you have a really tight schedule, but please, try to complete all homework this weekend even if they are not due on Monday. Hey wait, I just remembered. There is no school on Monday because of Labour's Day. So you guys will have 1 extra day to complete all your homework. Which also means... THAT WE DON'T HAVE !!!! YEAH!!!!

All the best in completing your homework,

Ng Wen Wen :) and Goldwin Chandra :)

Drama Journal

Hi JH106,

I believe some of you might be wondering what we have been doing for the past drama lessons. I hope that this entry post might be able to help you a little.

On the first lesson, we played 2 games. The first one: form a group of a number (that the teacher said), and those remainders must do a forfeit. Second game: form different numbers or alphabets with your group mates.

Second lesson: We played the game about "tarzan, jane and gorilla". One leader would tell us which action to do. We played another game too, which was really confusing. The one where we need to answer math questions while following some actions. One last game was when we had 3 members to a group and we lead our friend who was blindfolded around the classroom safely.

Third lesson: The class shared some stories and the groups wrote it down on a piece of foolscap paper, and got another group to act it out.

Fourth lesson: We played the wheelbarrow game. We learnt about literary, technical and performance elements. I think this was the lesson that Daniel cried. Haha.

Fifth lesson: We acted with our pairs about the conversation. Something like.... A: So, you are back. B: Nowhere else to go, this is where I belong. A: You mean, this is home? B: Yeah, something like that.

OK. I seriously hope this helps.
Thanks

Happy T2W5! (Reminders)

HI JH106!

This is your weekly reminder. Well, hope you enjoyed this week's lessons. If you feel something that must be said to the class, post a comment on the CBox or Comments!

Anyway, good luck for your Paper Chromatography Practical Examination. You're all smart teens, so everyone can get very high marks, right? Not to worry if you think you didn't do well, Miss Selva will grade your Practical Test according to your Chromatography Paper.

Ok, I will start on the comments. For Mathematics, it will be separated as we are in different classes.

1. Drama Journal (5th journal). Please remember that our Drama teacher wants to collect ALL DRAMA JOURNALS on Monday. So please, pLeAsE, PLEASE remember to do the drama journal and bring it on Monday. NO EXCUSE!

2. Chinese Newspaper Article (6th Article). I think that the teacher would be collecting your 剪报簿 anytime this week; so you better do all the 6 newspaper articles before the teacher calls for collection. For Chinese, do take note that we will have our Chinese test on Monday morning and remember to rehearse your skit with your respective groups, the "performance" will be on Tuesday.

3. For Language Arts, do Page 59 to Page 62. Finish it by Monday please.

4. Repeating reminder: IS Make-up lesson on 10th May (Week 8). It will be extended by 15 minutes because we were dismissed 15 mins before lesson ended from IS Lab after our practical test.

5. As for Thinking (TK), you have to write a riddle poem about yourself and the answer of course, must be your name. At the same time, finalise the riddle poen that your group will be submitting. Do the final "touch-up". And also, make sure that your TK Journal is neat and you have filled up all the necessary things. Mrs Tan will collect ALL TK Journals next week. Once again, NO EXCUSE!!

6. For IH, remember to rehearse the skit with your respective groups. The "performance" would be on Monday afternoon.

7. For Art, do remember to finish up the character drawing homework. Remember if you do not hand it in, you will get a ZERO! I believe none of you wants this to happen, so please remember to complete it.

8. If you have plenty of time in the weekend, please post your comments on KM on MA104 Online Forum. It is crucial, so I EXPECT everyone to post your comments up there. Don't wait until Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and when there's homework, there is no time for you to post and then you panic. I don't want to see this disgusting scene.

MA104 MATHEMATICS STREAM:
The homework for Mathematics is Topic 6 Homework Set as mentioned by Adeline. And everyone, if there are still more to this, please post your comments here! Thank you and hope you have a good week of Mathematics!

ACCELERATED MATHEMATICS TRIAL OFFER STREAM:
Hope everyone who is in the Accelerated Maths enjoy the 3 sessions of Mathematics with Mr. James Lim. Anyway, if you want to know his email, it is mrlim_maths@yahoo.com. He enjoys Maths a lot, so that's why his email includes the word "Maths". Ok, anyway the homework for the week is Topic 6 Homework Set (due by Friday). Read up on Topic 7 Page 2 to Page 4. We're starting on Polygons and Mr. Lim expects us to know all 8 polygons (3-sided to 10-sided). Mr. Lim will start giving "Number Patterns" worksheet next week and remember that he LIKES giving you people homework so better start filing up your Maths Worksheets in your Math File. If you want to check with me things on Math Filing, please contact me: chandragoldwin@yahoo.com.sg. (Must include .sg, ok?)
Basically, the homework for both classes is Homework Set on Topic 6 (the green booklet): Angle Management.

That is all for the homework and reminders. Hope you people have a good weekend! See you on Monday!

Homeworks and Stuff Like That...

JH106, the class committee (especially Wen Wen and Adeline and me too!) is getting upset about your performance. Can you please check up the class blog and do not bug us for homework. Homework and reminders are ALWAYS posted every week. Homework that is given in the week and needs to be passed up the same week will NOT be posted. You don't suffer from senility or amnesia; I don't see why we forget things easily (well... actually I do, but I put alarm to remind myself, so if you're "amnesic", you can try doing this too!).

I hope you read this post and from TODAY onwards, please check the class blog for every notices or reminders. Do not be lazy, it's just a website away!

Any comments, write it on the class chatbox or put it as comments. I will occasionally check the blog for comments (Don't ask me how long an occasion is).

Best regards from

NJC Arts Festival 2010

This post is regarding the Arts Fest in 3 weeks time. There are going to be many concerts and performances, and they are not for free, but you could check out more about it at http://www.njc.edu.sg/index.php?option=events&task=article&id=128.

Since I am in the String Orchestra, I am going to be selling tickets for the "Strings In Harmony" concert on 6th May, Thursday, 7:30 p.m. at Ngee Ann Kongsi(LT5). Each ticket is $10, and it is free seating(in case you don't know, this means that you can sit anywhere in the LT as long as you bought the ticket). But I currently have one discounted ticket for $7, maybe in future I may receive more to sell. The Guitar Ensemble is also going to be performing in this concert. This time I am going to be performing. The String Orchestra is also going to perform with the Piano Ensemble for a different concert, but I am not selling tickets for that concert. If anyone wants to buy tickets, please approach me. =)
